Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Vioneapp LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), operating Read Aloud Reader, collects, uses, and protects information when you use readaloudreader.com and our browser extension.

2. Information We Collect

Text you submit is used solely to generate audio and is not stored beyond a temporary audio cache. We use SHA-256 hashed IP addresses for daily rate limiting (reset midnight UTC). If you create an account we store your email address and, where provided, your name, plus plan status and usage counters. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never store card numbers.

3. How We Use Information

To generate text-to-speech audio, operate accounts and billing, prevent abuse, improve reliability, monitor aggregate usage, and send product updates or our newsletter (which may include sponsored content) where you have opted in. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-Party Services

OpenAI provides text-to-speech generation. Supabase provides backend, authentication and storage. Stripe processes payments. Email providers deliver transactional and newsletter email. We do not sell or trade your information.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use storage that is necessary to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as theme, voice and speed, plus aggregate analytics.

6. Data Retention

Text content is not retained. Audio cache up to 30 days. Rate limiting data resets daily at midnight UTC. Account, subscription and email records are kept while active and deleted on request.

7. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your Rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and unsubscribe from marketing email at any time, by emailing [email protected]. GDPR and CCPA rights apply where relevant.

9. Security

All data is encrypted in transit using TLS (HTTPS).

10. Browser Extension

The Read Aloud Reader browser extension has a single purpose: reading web page text or a selection out loud. Page text or your selection is read from the active tab only when you activate the extension, and is sent to our speech servers to produce audio. We do not read pages in the background and we do not collect browsing history, form data or passwords. If you are signed in on readaloudreader.com, the extension copies your existing session token into extension storage on your device so your plan, limits and voices match the Studio; it is sent only to our own backend and is cleared when you sign out. Your chosen voice, speed and an anonymous install id (used for free-plan limits) are stored locally on your device. We do not sell extension data, do not use it for advertising, credit or lending purposes, and do not transfer it to third parties except the infrastructure providers that run speech generation. Submitted text and generated audio are cached as described in Data Retention above; email [email protected] to request deletion.
